Creating With Spellbinders

Hey there!! Spellbinders recently sent me a couple of dies to play with & I am sharing two projects today using those products. I only used one stamp between these two cards…

The first features the Die D-Lites Party Food Etched Dies. I began by cutting the pieces for the tacos from colored cardstock, then ink blending some Distress Oxide Inks along the edges for dimension. The largest die from the Nestabilities Standard Circles LG Etched Dies was used to cut a circle from a panel of white cardstock. I cut the “Gracias” several times from red cardstock, then adhered them onto the circle of white cardstock that was cut from the white panel. The parts that hung off the edge of the circle were trimmed away. The small circle die in the Die D-Lites Party Food Etched Dies set was used to cut many circles from red cardstock. After drawing a grid onto my white panel lightly with a pencil, the circles were adhered where my lines intersected, creating my own dimensional patterned paper. The pencil lines were then erased. The polka dot panel was adhered with foam adhesive onto a panel of red cardstock that was cut slightly larger. The Gracias circle was adhered flat into the negative space in the panel. The tacos were then adhered to the lower, right area of the die-cut circle with foam adhesive and regular adhesive.

The second card uses the Die D-Lites Build a Terrarium Etched Dies

For this card, I started with the background first. I used the cactus die from the Die D-Lites Build a Terrarium Etched Dies to create a stencil from heavyweight white cardstock. I used Distress Oxide Inks and an ink blending tool to stencil the cactus onto a panel of white cardstock. I mixed a bit of Distress Oxide Ink with water and splattered it onto the panel. The other elements from the die set were cut from colored cardstock. Distress Oxides were inked onto the die-cuts to create more dimension. I also cut the glass from the terrarium from acetate and sandwiched it between the layers of the domed cover. Some dots were added to the cacti with a black pen to mimic thorns. The sentiment, from The Ton’s Coming Up Daisies set, was heat embossed onto a strip of black cardstock, then popped up with dimensional adhesive.

That’s it for me today!! Thanks for stopping by & thanks to Spellbinders for the awesome dies!!
