Hello, friends and happy Friday!! It’s the 14th and that means it’s time for the Picket Fence Studios October Release!! This release is packed full of so much holiday and winter goodness!! There’s a fun blog hop going on over on Instagram with so much inspiration using the new release!! I’ll add my Instagram account below so you can join in the fun over there!!
I have two card designs to share with you today!! I created some fun rainbow shaped holiday cards featuring the Jolly Good Rainbow Die Set with non-traditional colors!!
I began by die-cutting the stripes in the rainbow from green, pink and blue cardstock. I mixed Sparkle Paper Glitz and Winter Snowfall Paper Glaze Velvet together and spread it onto heavyweight white cardstock. Once it was dry, I die-cut the solid rainbow from the sparkly cardstock three times and several snowflakes, also included in the Jolly Good Rainbow Die Set. I also die-cut the solid rainbow from three white card bases, allowing the top of the rainbow to hang out of the die. The glitzy solid layer and the stripes were adhered to the rainbow-shaped card base.
The sentiment on this one is from the Swanky Christmas Sentiments Stamp Set. It was stamped with black hybrid ink, then cut out with the Coordinating Die. It was popped up with foam tape.
The “joy” sentiment was die-cut once from black cardstock and three times from heavyweight white cardstock using the Joy Word Die. They were stacked and adhered together then adhered to the bottom of the card.
The sentiment on the third card was stamped onto white cardstock with black hybrid ink using a stamp from the Welcome Winter Wreath Stamp Set. It was cut out with the Coordinating Die, then popped up with foam tape.
The snowflake die-cuts were adhered to the front of the cards, then Bright Blue and Soft Violet Flat-Backed Pearls were adhered to the center of each snowflake.
I really LOVE how these turned out!!
My second card is a scene card created with the darling Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree Stamp Set!!
I stamped the images from the Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree set onto white cardstock with black hybrid ink. I colored them with Copic markers and cut them out with the Coordinating Dies. I stamped the Scene Building: Winter Scenery Stamp onto the bottom of a panel of white cardstock with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink. I blended Mermaid Lagoon and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink onto the panel with Life Changing Blending Brushes. The panel was splattered with diluted white gouache and set aside to dry.
The sentiment, also from the Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree Stamp Set, was white heat embossed onto black cardstock, then cut out with its Coordinating Die.
Once the background was dry, it was adhered to a white, top-folding card base. The tree was adhered to the background, while the sweet mice and sentiment were popped up with foam tape.
A white gel pen was used to add highlights and snow to the die-cuts. Snowflake embellishments from the Letters To Santa Mix were the perfect finishing touch!
