Hello everyone!!! It’s August 1…time for a new challenge at The Ton!! Our theme this month is SUMMER!! I don’t know about you, but mine is going by way too fast!! I am not a cold weather girl. I plan to soak up as much sun as possible this month!!

For my summer project, I created a serene one-layer ocean scene. Nothing relaxes me more than the sound of water splashing on the shore, whether it is at the ocean or lake (which we tend to visit much more than the ocean).

I started by stamping the water from the Mermaid Vibes set in Cali Blue. I also made a mask from Post-it notes and masked off the water & the sun, allowing me to ink blend the sunset onto the card panel with Soft Orchid, Parisian Blue, Rose Quartz & Vanilla Frosted Cupcake Inks. I removed the mask and blended some Carribbean Turquiose Ink over the water. The Palm Tree stamp set was then used to create a silhouette and an island with Noir ink. Love the hammock included in this set!!! The fish are also from Mermaid Vibes and were stamped with Ocean Teal Ink. The clouds are actually foam from the Wave set stamped with Hampton White Pigment Ink. The sentiment and birds from the Palm Tree set were stamped with Noir ink, before popping some black fun foam onto the back of the panel and adhering it to the card base. Lastly, I used some Morning Dew Nuvo Drops to create “bubbles” in the water.
