Hello crafty friends!! It’s March 1 (what???) & time for a new challenge over on The Ton’s Challenge Blog!!! This month we have a Spring theme!!!
I have created a bright, spring card with flowers…what else?? That, along with the warmer weather, is what I look forward to the most in the Spring.
The Ton has a few new coverplate dies that make quick work of cardmaking, but it looks like it took a lot of time to create. I began by cutting the Best Day Ever Floral Coverplate Die from Bristol smooth cardstock and some silver glitter paper. I used the largest of the Double Stitched Rectangle Dies (Large) to cut an A2 sized border around both pieces, while cutting a nice, stitched edge. I made sure to keep all the small pieces from the Bristol paper, as I wanted to inlay those back into the die-cut panel. The Bristol panel was colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a waterbrush. I used alcohol inks on Yupo paper for a bold, bright background for my die-cut panels. After the Bristol panel was dry, I adhered it onto the alcohol inked background panel, inlaying all of the small pieces. I carefully trimmed the flowers away on the silver die-cut piece, leaving only the frame and sentiment. This was adhered directly over the watercolored die-cut panel. I added a few strokes of colored pencil to each of the flowers, for just a little detail and called it done. It looks like it took a long time to create, but was super simple thanks to the Best Day Ever Floral Coverplate Die!!
That’s it for me today!! I hope you will come and play along for your chance to win a $50 gift card to The Ton’s Shop!!!
