With Sympathy – Scrappy Tails Crafts

Happy Monday, friends!! Sympathy cards are the most difficult to create, but I like to keep a few on hand so I have them when needed. However, I find nothing more therapeutic than spending time in my craft room reflecting on the relationship that was lost when someone passes. We just lost a dear friend of ours at the end of last week and I needed a card to send to his wife. I thought the Garden Fountain Die Set from Scrappy Tails Crafts would be perfect!!

I started by die-cutting the fountain and birds from the Garden Fountain Die Set from white cardstock. I added color and shading with Copic markers, then adhered all the pieces together with liquid glue. I decided to make the birds resemble cardinals, since they are a sign of connection with a loved one who has passed away.

For the background, I die-cut the A7 Willow Tree Cover Plate Die from pale green and brown cardstock. I added a bit of color variation to the die-cuts with dye inks. An A7 panel of white cardstock was blended with Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks, blending the darker color around the outside of the panel. The willow tree, fountain and birds were adhered to the background with liquid glue.

The sentiment is also included in the A7 Willow Tree Cover Plate Die Set. The top layer was cut once each from red and white cardstock and the shadow layer was cut three times from white cardstock. The layers were adhered together with liquid glue, then added to the bottom of the fountain. I used a white gel pen to add highlights to the die-cuts and finish off the card.

It was very therapeutic to get lost in my craft room for a bit. Does crafting do the same for you?

That’s it for me today!! Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a wonderful week!!
