Spellbinders Autumn Flora Collection

Hello, crafty friends!! Happy Monday!! I hope you had a great weekend!!

I have a couple of cards to share with you today featuring the Spellbinders Autumn Flora Collection by Susan Tierney Cockburn. It was love at first sight with this collection!! You know how much I love dimension and these dies are perfect for creating lots of dimension on your projects!! You can add as many layers as you want!!

Let’s start with the hydrangea!!

How gorgeous are these blooms?!? I began by die-cutting all of the elements in the Autumn Hydrangea Etched Dies from Susan’s Autumn Flora from watercolor paper. I smooshed Distress Oxide Inks onto my glass mat and spritzed them with water. For the petals, I used Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry. Twisted Citron and Mermaid Lagoon were used for the leaves. I dipped each petal and leaf into the diluted inks and set them aside to dry.

I wanted the background to be pretty simple so the florals could take center stage. The largest dies in the Nestabilities Essential Rectangles Etched Die Set were used to cut a panel and add the dotted border from Bristol Smooth cardstock. I ink smooshed diluted Speckled Egg and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink onto the panel and splattered on some diluted white gouache and Mermaid Lagoon ink. Once that was dry, it was adhered to a white card base.

I added the sentiment to the bottom right corner with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. Green stickles were added to the centers of each petal and they were adhered to the base. The leaves and blooms were arranged and adhered as shown.

My second card features the Gaillardia Etched Dies from Susan’s Autumn Flora

I have to admit, I wasn’t familiar with the Gaillardia. I looked them up on Google and fell in love with their bright colors!! This card was created very similar to my first card.

I die-cut all of the parts for the flowers and leaves from watercolor paper using the Gaillardia Etched Dies. Since I wanted brighter colors, I used regular Distress Inks this time. Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed and Vintage Photo inks were used for the flowers, while Twisted Citron and Pine Needles inks were used for the leaves.

Once the die-cuts were dry, I curved the flower petals by curling them around a pencil. I added some brown stickles to the centers of my flowers.

See what I mean about all of the dimension? If you like dimension on your projects like I do, I would encourage you to check out the rest of the Autumn Flora Collection!! I can’t wait to add the rest of the florals to my stash!!

Thanks for stopping by today!! Have a great week and I’ll see you soon!!
